Food for vulnerable families in Callao

Families of the district of Ventanilla, in the province of Callao, have been tremendously affected by the pandemic. Most breadwinners have informal jobs that either disappeared with the arrival of Covid-19, or that exposed them to getting infected with the coronavirus. For this reason, Help Peru decided to support some families by providing them food baskets. For this initiative, we collaborated with Kantaya to deliver the baskets: in June of 2020, 260 families in need (approximately 1,300 people) received 8 days worth of food supplies. Another delivery in December 2020 provided baskets for 300 families (approximately 1,500 people), containing food and Christmas gifts for children.

Kantaya is a non-profit organization that works in the district of Ventanilla, in the province of Callao, Peru. Kantaya provides spaces where kids in vulnerable conditions, between the ages of 5 and 15 years old, can study after school.
