Early Childhood Development Project – Partners in Health

Partners in Health is an international non-profit organization with the mission of offering health care from the preferential option for the neediest, bringing the benefits of modern medical science to those who need it most. In Peru, it was founded in 1996 with the aim of responding to multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. Help Peru supports Partners in Health from this year 2024 to implement the project; CASITA: Implementation of a community intervention to reduce the risk or delay in early childhood development in children under 2 years of age in a community in the district of Ventanilla. This intervention, which has already demonstrated its effectiveness in the district of Carabayllo, provides a toolkit and accompanies mothers and caregivers of children from 6 to 24 months of age so that they can strengthen their children physical, language and social skills through play and positive interactions. In the Ventanilla district where the project is being developed, 70% of the children’s families abandon their anemia treatment and their recovery rate is below 25%. Additionally, only 44% have growth and development controls according to their age. The CASITA project is expected to contribute to reduce these figures through this community intervention that will benefit 220 families, training Community Health Agents and the innovative implementation of an application called Yo Promotor.
