On Thursday October 18th, Help Peru hosted its fifth annual fundraiser at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. The event surpassed our expectations gathering over 250 people and raising over $300,000.
The evening featured our keynote speakers Dr. Jeff Weinzweig and Dr. Peter Taub from Komedyplast, one of the organizations we support. Komedyplast organizes an annual trip to Lima, Perú where a group of craniofacial surgeons and medical staff from the US evaluate and do surgeries on children born with craniofacial abnormalities.
At the Gala, our guests were entertained with the fabulous performance of “Afro-Peruvian Ensemble” and were able to bid on both a Silent and Live Auction featuring all sorts of prizes from trips to works of art. We were also honored with the presence of Maria Susana Landaveri, Consul General of Peru in New York and Alberto Hart, Consul General of Peru in New Jersey.
This was our most successful gala to date, representing an increase of 30% over last year’s gala. Most importantly Help Peru’s cumulative fundraising efforts since its creation have crossed the one million dollar mark. This is an important milestone that motivates us to continue working together!
