Our Welcome Blog

Members of the Board at Help Peru’s first fundraiser event, in 2014.

We are Help Peru, a nonprofit organization composed of a team of international individuals with a passion for philanthropy. Our mission is to support best-in-class charities, helping underprivileged Peruvians. We were founded in 2013 by our board of Directors, a group of Peruvians who are now based in New York City. They have the spirit to organize and bolster awareness to aggrandize their country.

Initially, there was no funding to start their NGO, so they held a charity event in one of the Director’s homes. Each year the charitable event grew to eventually be held at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. As the yearly event grew, the vision for Help Peru started to expand. The directors aspired to cultivate a sustained impact for the causes Help Peru supports. With this expansion, the Help Peru team grew to see the vision come to fruition. The organization pivoted attention from one major event a year to continued activity throughout the year. This transition began just in time to be able to mobilize and assist Peru get resources it has urgently needed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Help Peru makes its impact by partnering with local organizations on the ground that share a common vision to uplift vulnerable and underserved communities. We have analyzed over 160 charities in Peru to determine which NGOs in Peru are best-in-class. For us, the important characteristics of such nonprofits are transparency, healthy financial status, good communication practices, constant impact evaluation, and the potential for their model to create a sustainable solution for the country as a whole.

We have chosen to focus on five areas that we believe are indispensable to achieve sustained development for Peru and its people.

  • Education
  • Environment
  • Healthcare
  • Philanthropy
  • Women Empowerment

We have most recently added Emergency Relief as a sixth official cause due to the influx of emergency aid Peru needs. Prior to the pandemic, we had also been providing support to communities affected by natural disasters, such as floods, landslides and earthquakes.

We are starting this blog to be more connected with you and for you all to feel more connected with us. We will utilize this blog to liaise data and information about Peru, keep you up to date about our projects and our partners, and give you an inside look into our organization and team. We will be posting regularly so make sure to check back often to see what new material we have for you. We are looking forward to sharing more soon!
